Imre Németh  Memorial Day – Events

A memorial day traditionally held every year

2025

On May 17, the 29th Németh Imre Memorial Day was held at the Gyulai SzC Kossuth Lajos Technikum and Vocational School. The event once again paid a worthy tribute to the school's namesake, while the institution filled with colorful, community-building programs and festive moments.

At the official opening, Director Diána Palotás-Rózsa and Melinda Mészáros, President of the Németh Imre Foundation, welcomed the participants. One of the highlights was the ceremonial handover of recreational equipment purchased by the Kossuth Mezgéért Foundation from the proceeds of the 2024 charity ball, which will help students relax in their everyday lives.

The Németh Imre Memorial Day was the penultimate event of the centenary week. Students measured their skills in a professional quiz; Rozália Kis awaited them with cycling agility tasks and the "drunk goggles." There was also an escape room, puzzle-solving in foreign languages, and a general knowledge quiz. At the closing talk of the "Where I Started From" series, Sándor Csizmadia, József Kutni, and Dr. Lajos Gáspár spoke about their school years at the institution and their later successes.

After many months, events once again took center stage at our school. As tradition dictates, the Németh Imre Memorial Day was held this year as well, beginning with a welcome by Director Attila Pörneki. After the opening, Dr. Gabriella Csomósné Sinka led a musical warm-up for both students and staff. Throughout the morning, students earned points for their classes through sports and knowledge tasks, and an interclass football championship was also held. The results were announced on June 15.

Students could test themselves in football, a cycling race, and a team skills competition, and there was an opportunity for communal cooking as well. They watched a dog show and tried the "Dot to Dot" quiz; visitors could also view the school's photo contest exhibition. Teachers often joined in the activities, and on the football field the day ended with a teacher-student showdown that set the tone for the final match.

Before the awards ceremony, a tree-planting took place.

Sweet as Honey

Tenth-graders learned about the beneficial effects of honey through individual tasks on the "Sweet as Honey" day. They had to solve assignments related to honey and its effects while tasting delicious honey-based pastries—an occasion to introduce participants to the profession and to closeness with nature.

On June 15, a Németh Imre Memorial Day was organized for the students. The young people showcased their talents in cooking and singing. The institution holds the memorial day every year in honor of the former teacher. Mouth-watering aromas drifted through the air from afar. Some favored quality over quantity—reflected in the size of their cauldrons. On the grills, properly marinated meats were cooked to perfection.

At the Health Point, various measurements were available. The bold could ride horses; the daring could play poker. Meanwhile, the band Szó-köz and Geiszt Roland with his band entertained the youth. Source:: Oroscafé
