The battle for a drone is on

The GySzC Kossuth Lajos Technikum, Vocational School and Dormitory benefits from several foundation supports, including that of the Németh Imre Foundation. Last November, they applied for the Invitech–InnoMax award to purchase a drone and hand it over to the school for teaching purposes. Out of more than 70 applicants, they made it into the top 10.
At this stage, a public vote decides which projects receive support. Two years ago, the Németh Imre Foundation set the goal of supporting Orosháza's students and educating them in environmental awareness, among other things via IT tools. The first step was robotics, the second 3D printers, backed by devices connected to nature and sustainability.
Despite the pandemic in 2020, students at the event could program a tree-planting robot, and 3D-printed accessories were made for the robots to carry to the plants.
"As you can see, we have successfully integrated each newly acquired device into our educational goals—through competitions, demonstrations, and teaching alike. With the current application, we want to implement the third step of our plan: purchase a small beginner and a larger advanced drone, launch drone programming at our school, and reach nearly 800 students here and another ~800 in our city, with the help of Code Week," the school wrote.
They added that with both drones they would also teach environmental awareness and agricultural uses alongside programming. The new technology would serve the previously set sustainability objectives (e.g., mapping, irrigation, use of biochemicals). Voting is available on the Invitech–InnoMax Facebook page.
