COLLECTION GUIDE

IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ!

  • Do not collect wet acorns; wait until they dry.

  • We will send a public-space use permit to the e-mail provided at registration if you wish to collect acorns on public land.

  • For collecting in front of private property, obtain the owner's prior consent.

  • Before you start, please watch on YouTube: "How to collect acorns?" (5 parts, 20 minutes).

  • The collected acorns must be traceable, so collect them by location and by species.

Steps for collecting:

  • Gather into small buckets (e.g., clean sour-cream/cookie tubs) or bags, then pour acorns from the same location/species into a larger collection sack (e.g., canvas/raschel), and bring them this way to the drop-off point.

  • Place an ID slip inside the sack (group name, exact location of collection, and whether pedunculate, sessile, or pyramid/columnar oak).

  • Watch our Facebook page for the handover times, when we will weigh the collected acorns.

Please deliver within 3–4 days after picking so the acorns retain viability!

If you collect a larger quantity, notify us by e-mail: we can come to the given address, weigh it, and help with transport.
