From space debris to victory – H.M.C. Team takes 1st place at Space Challenge 2025!

24/06/2025

The H.M.C. Team achieved a huge success at the national finals of Space Challenge 2025, taking first place with their space-debris collection project! The students' inventive and eco-conscious development impressed not only the audience but also the professional jury.

A unique feature of the competition was that the jury was composed of experts from the John von Neumann Computer Society, at an event organized by the University of Pécs, the Pécs Cultural Center, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—so IT professionals recognized the team's work with first place.

The project's realization was supported by a strong local collaboration: Gyulai SZC Kossuth Lajos Technikum provided the Codedron platform needed for development, while thanks to the NIA – Németh Imre Foundation, students could use EV3 LEGO robots for their program.

This success is not only a triumph of innovation and environmental awareness, but also proof of what cooperation between the school, the foundation, and dedicated teachers can achieve.

Team members:

Horváth Dominik
Mondzinger Máté
Cunaj Mendrit

Professional support and coaching:
Mészáros Melinda, IT teacher and project mentor.

This result is further proof that when education, innovation, and support go hand in hand, you can truly reach for the stars—or even collect space debris! 🌌♻️
