Erasmus+ Dublin – Artificial Intelligence and Digital Tools in Education
At the end of March 2026, Melinda Mészáros, president of the NIA – Németh Imre Foundation and IT teacher at the Gyulai SZC Kossuth Lajos Technikum, spent one week in Dublin במסגרת the Erasmus+ program. The training focused on the conscious and effective use of artificial intelligence and digital tools in education.
During the one-week intensive course organized by Atlas Language School ERASMUS + , participants attended 20 lessons, complemented by a rich professional and cultural program. Teachers explored the TPACK framework, AI-based content creation, and tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Mentimeter, and various digital platforms. Sessions were highly interactive, involving group work, workshops, and reflection on participants' own teaching practices.
Key topics included digital citizenship, media literacy, and the recognition of fake news, all essential for students' responsible digital presence. The course aimed not only to introduce tools but also to promote their critical and responsible use.
Melinda Mészáros highlighted that the training provided valuable insights and reinforced the importance of developing digital education in Hungary. She emphasized that AI systems like ChatGPT and Gemini are primarily language models and data-driven tools, not thinking entities.
According to her, critical thinking is one of the most important future skills. Research also shows that strategic thinking activities enhance cognitive processes, while excessive passive media consumption may have the opposite effect. She stressed that AI is beneficial only if it encourages thinking rather than replaces it.
The knowledge gained during the program will help ensure that students of the NIA Foundation and Kossuth Technikum receive even more modern, engaging, and future-oriented education, becoming not only users but conscious creators of the digital world.
The future is already here – the question is how we use it.
